Physician Ethical Independence Survey

Between the Patient and the Market — Is the Doctor Still Free?

“We do not produce what we teach — we produce what we assess.”

About this survey

This anonymous survey is for practicing physicians. It explores how you respond when medical knowledge meets external pressures — pharmaceutical marketing, institutional policies, financial incentives, and social expectations. There are no universally “correct” answers; the aim is to surface how ethical independence is exercised in everyday practice, and to inform how we design assessment tools that measure it.

Please answer honestly. Your responses are confidential and will be used in aggregate only.

Section 1 — About You (optional)

Section 2 — Ethical Scenarios (Questions 1–12)

Tick ONE option that most closely reflects what you would actually do in real practice — not what sounds ideal. Then briefly justify your choice.

Section 3 — Attitudes on Independence (Questions 13–18)

Indicate how much you agree with each statement.

“Are we producing physicians who follow… or physicians who decide?”
Thank you. Your response has been recorded. Your reflections help build an assessment culture that values ethical independence as a core of professional identity.
